COMMUNITY Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general Mohammad Agus Yusoff said a video of his conversation with a staff member had been edited to make him look bad.

Agus denied having an indecent conversation as depicted in the three-minute clip, which has gone viral, adding that he was just saying hello to assistant officer Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani, 33.

“My officers and I are used to making video calls with subordinates for work matters. I see nothing wrong with it. Wahab is a young boy. My eldest son is older than him.

“What do you want to know? Is this my first time making a video call? I do it with everyone, the director, my staff, my friends, I think that’s normal, there’s nothing wrong with it,” he said in a press conference in Bandar Baru Bangi last night.

Wahab, who has only served two weeks as an assistant officer at J-Kom, was also present.

Agus insisted his conversation with Abdul Wahab was normal and casual.

He said it was possible that the video was edited by parties unhappy about the position he held in J-Kom.

“We have learnt a lot from the past how a person can fall because of sexual accusations and now it is happening to me,” said Agus, who lodged a report on the matter at the Kajang Police Station yesterday morning.

He said he will send a letter of demand to the party who shared the video.

On his future, Agus said he has decided not to move to Indonesia pending investigation into the case.

“I want justice and I want this case to be investigated. I have instructed my lawyers to take the necessary legal action. People will not forget this, it has become history and tarnished (my reputation),” he said.

Meanwhile, Wahab admitted to having recorded the conversation on the instructions of a person called “Mr H”, who had promised him a high position in J-Kom if he succeeded in defaming Agus.

“During my meeting with ‘Mr H’, I was told that he had received information from a certain party that Mohammad Agus was involved in immoral activities,” he said.

Wahab said the audio content in the video was fake and that he would also file a police report soon. – Bernama, November 18, 2023.
