A CRASH involving two lorries and a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) at Km198.2 southbound on the North-South Highway (PLUS) near Jasin early today caused a massive jam stretching about 7km.
Jasin police chief Ahmad Jamil Radzi said in the 1am incident, the lorries laden with butter and frozen products collided with a Toyota Alphard carrying four foreign tourists.
“Investigations showed the two lorries coming from the north towards Johor were believed to have grazed each other at that location.
“That caused the 30- and 32-year-old drivers to lose control of their vehicles and veer into the other lane,” he said in a statement this morning.
Jamil said the MPV, driven by a 34-year-old man, from the opposite direction could not avoid the two lorries, resulting in the crash.
He said all victims were taken to Melaka Hospital. The case is being investigated under section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama, November 17, 2023.
