THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested the committee chairman of a temporary relief centre on suspicion of certifying a flood relief form containing false details last year.

An MACC source said the man, in his 60s, was arrested at about 11am yesterday at the Kemaman MACC office when he came to give his statement.

The source said the form was allegedly submitted with false details to claim the compassionate cash aid offered by the government to flood-affected heads of household.

Terengganu MACC Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid confirmed the arrest and said investigations are being carried out under section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

The suspect was released on MACC bail after his statement was recorded, he said. – Bernama, November 16, 2023.
