BERSATU Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal today alleged a “Datuk Botak” and a former aide of Anwar’s were responsible for getting opposition lawmakers to back Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“It is clear there is a plan to bribe and offer promises of financial assistance to Bersatu MPs, both for their constituencies and for them personally.

“There is also a video on Facebook and TikTok showing the identity of a ‘Datuk Botak’... who played a role in bribing and threatening opposition MPs to support the prime minister,” Wan Fayhsal told a press conference in Parliament today.

He also said the video explains the role of the prime minister’s former aide in this matter.

“This video has also gone viral and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should be aware and take action.

“This is clearly a misuse of power and this also insults the provisions of the Federal Constitution regarding the party hopping law and contradicts democratic practices,” the Machang MP said.

Last week, four Bersatu MPs pledged their support for Anwar, but said they remained loyal to Bersatu.

They are Jeli MP Zahari Kechik, Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), and Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang).

Bersatu had suspended the membership of Iskandar for four years and Suhaili for six years. The decision for the remaining two are yet to be announced.

On Thursday, Bukit Gantang MP Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal, also from Bersatu, said he will support Anwar.

Wan Fayhsal also said a police report had been made regarding these allegations following the actions of some Perikatan Nasional MPs who declared their support for the prime minister.

He added that they are also going to make a report to the MACC.

Earlier, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution said the police nor the MACC have not received any report about opposition lawmakers being bribed or threatened into supporting the prime minister.

“As of this morning, when the officers were preparing the (parliamentary) answers, there has been no complaint filed regarding the allegations,” he said during question time. – November 14, 2023.
