THE authorities have not received any report about opposition lawmakers being bribed or threatened into supporting the prime minister, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution told parliament today.

He told the House that neither the police nor the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had received any complaint on the matter.
“As of this morning, when the officers were preparing the (parliamentary) answers, there has been no complaint filed… regarding the allegations that oppositions received enticements, bribes, and threats to support the PM,” he said during question time.
Saifuddin said acts that were against the law would be investigated.
“However, if the allegations are false, it will count as slander against the government. The enforcement agencies will accordingly.”
He was replying to a question from Onn Abu Bakar (Batu Pahat-PH) who had wanted to know how many reports the authorities had received about opposition lawmakers being coerced or lured into backing Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
However, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang-PN) denied Saifuddin’s claim that no reports were made, saying Armada, the Bersatu youth wing, had made such a report at midnight.
“I’d like to correct the minister. Armada actually filed a police report at midnight. Are the allegations just rumours? No. They are not slander.
“A report will also be made to the MACC,” he said.
Saifuddin replied that the authorities will investigate the reports.
“I would like to commend Machang and Armada for working until late at night. The fact that the report was accepted by the police shows that our law enforcers are professional,” he said. – November 14, 2023.
