LABUAN lawmaker Suhaili Abdul Rahman has received an approval for development allocation for his constituency from the government after announcing his support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the approval came just three days after he announced his support for the unity government, Sinar Harian reported.

The approval was unconditional, he said.

“When you want to request allocation, you have to declare you support the government. That’s all. There is no requirement to sign anything, that’s all slander.

“I announced (the government’s support) to the media, the next day I applied for an allocation, two days later the PM approved it,” he said as quoted by the newspaper.
However, he did not disclose the amount of allocation he received.

Suhaili is one of four opposition MPs from Bersatu who expressed support for the unity government.

The other three are Kuala Kangsar MP Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, and two representatives from Kelantan – Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) and Zahari Kechik (Jeli).

In the meantime, Suhaili reiterated he was not leaving Bersatu.

“I still love the party. It’s just that I also love the people (voters). I need help.

“Where is the crime when the people’s representatives put the people who voted for them first?” he asked.

Yesterday, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said his party would lodge reports to the anti-corruption agency because there was evidence that those who switched their support were threatened and offered special treatment related to area allocation.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul also said yesterday he received an application from the four parliamentarians concerned to move seats to the government bloc in the lower house. – November 10, 2023.
