China veep arrives in Malaysia for 4-day trip

CHINA’s Vice-President Han Zheng has arrived in Malaysia for a four-day official visit.

The special aircraft carrying Han touched down at 7.15pm today at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and was welcomed by Deputy Foreign Minister Mohamad Alamin and China’s Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing.

While in Malaysia, Han is set to meet the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara.

He will then call on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and attend a dinner hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Wisma Putra in a statement said bilateral, regional and international issues; cooperation in the halal industry; the Palestine-Israel conflict and the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations next year will be discussed during Han’s visit. 

For over a decade, China has been Malaysia’s largest trading partner. In 2022, total trade between Malaysia and China reached RM487.13 billion, reflecting a 15.6% increase from 2021.

China emerged the largest foreign direct investor in Malaysia in 2022, with investments totalling RM55.4 billion. – Bernama, November 8, 2023.
