A 33-year-old man was slashed with a machete yesterday in Pekan Bukit Pelandok, Port Dickson, when he refused to lend his friend money, district police chief Aidi Sham Mohamed said.

He said police received a report from the public at 6.15pm yesterday about the attack. The victim suffered injuries to his left palm, right elbow and right knee.

Aidi said the Port Dickson Criminal Investigation Division team arrested a 33-year-old man and seized a machete believed to be the weapon used to injure the victim, at a house in Taman Murni, Chuah, at 1.50am today.

“The victim and the suspect were friends. The incident occurred when the victim refused to lend the suspect money. The suspect, who was drunk, turned vicious and attacked his friend with a machete,” he said.

Aidi Sham said the suspect had 12 priors including drug-related offences, and tested positive for methamphetamine.

The suspect has been remanded for six days for investigation under section 326 of the penal code. – Bernama, November 7, 2023.
