COMMUNICATIONS and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the Digital Agriculture Technology (AgTech) system would be installed in 500 areas, estimated to cost RM20,000.
He said it was a Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) programme to increase the use of digital technologies in agriculture.
“Digital AgTech is equipped not only with the Internet of Things to ensure farmers use digital (technology), but God willing, there will be 500 locations across the country that will get off-the-shelf equipment,” he told a press conference at the Malaysia Digital Expo 2023 Grand Finale in Kuala Lumpur today.
Fahmi said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had high hopes for the Digital AgTech team to facilitate improvements in yield and income for farmers.
“Digital AgTech is one of the nine sectors in (the Malaysia Digital Catalytic Programmes) being emphasised by MDEC … and is an effort by MDEC and (my ministry) to improve the country’s food security and raise farmers’ incomes,” he said. – Bernama, November 6, 2023.
