PKR’s name and logo were removed from the website of Liberal International after it was pointed out the party was not a member.
The latest check on its website showed that PKR was no longer among several entries featuring Asian parties or organisations.
As of 3.40pm today, there are only seven organisations from Asia listed on the website.
Yesterday, PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil asked Liberal International to remove PKR from its website.
The communications and digital minister said PKR had never been a member.
In a related development, Fahmi said PKR was mulling legal action against quarters linking it to Liberal International.
“Yesterday I said PKR was not a member of Liberal International and I contacted the group.
“So I ask our friends, especially lawyers, to take into consideration the slander and malicious lies made by unscrupulous paries who are trying to link PKR with Liberal International will ill intentions, and we will consider if there is a need to take legal action,” he told reporters after officiating the OKU Celik Digital Empowerment Programme in Kuala Lumpur today.
Based on feedback from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, there are more than 200 Liberal International-related content used to attack PKR and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
“So there is coordinated behaviour. This is a political attack, and it’s important that I explain that factually, PKR is not a member of Liberal International. So stop all the slander and lies,” he said. – Bernama, November 5, 2023.
