THERE are no signs of threat to national security following the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.
He said, however, the authorities have increased the level of readiness while Bukit Aman is working closely with all neighbouring countries.
“I was briefed by the Inspector-General of Police (Razarudin Husain) and there are three things the police have done – firstly, the level of readiness at the border have increased.
“Secondly, we are sharing intelligence with neighbouring countries and thirdly, as long as the conflict occurs and as long as we enforce border control, everything is under control.
“There are no security threats,” he said after officiating at the Kebun Bunga assemblyman Lee Boon Heng’s service centre in George Town today.
Saifuddin also said Malaysia is creating a new cyber security entity which will be placed under the Prime Minister’s Office. The move is a response to the increase in threat of cyber crime.
“That is a development which we have discussed at the Cabinet level and now a new bill is being prepared. And I don’t think it (the bill) can be included in the nearest schedule (Dewan Rakyat sitting); perhaps (will table it) next year,” he said. – Bernama, November 4, 2023.
