PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he told Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir to talk to Turkey and Saudi Arabia about holding an emergency Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting over Palestine issues.
“This meeting should also involve countries like Brazil, Russia and China, which have expressed strong opposition to Israeli atrocities,” he said on Facebook today.
In the Dewan Rakyat earlier today, Anwar expressed Malaysia’s support for a proposal by Turkey and Saudi Arabia to convene an OIC meeting.
Turkey’s ambassador to Malaysia, Emir Salim Yuksel, told Bernama Ankara had forged close cooperation with Malaysia on the Palestine issue, including on the coordination of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
He said he discussed the matter with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his two-day visit to Turkey on October 21 and 22. – Bernama, October 31, 2023.
