NATIONAL shooter Johnathan Wong Guanjie has become the third Malaysian athlete to secure a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Olympic Council Malaysia (OCM) president Mohamad Norza Zakaria said the pistol specialist earned his place in Paris 2024 at the 15th Asian Shooting Championships, which is being held until November 2 in Changwon, South Korea.
“Congratulations to Johnathan for making the cut for Paris 2024. We extend our best wishes to him in his preparation for the Paris Olympics,” he said in a statement.
Johnathan, 31, finished fourth in the men’s 10m air pistol event to earn his Olympics ticket, marking his second appearance in the Games following his 2016 Rio debut.
Johnathan joined Bertrand Rhodict Lises (aquatics-diving) and Nur Shazrin Mohamad Latif Oly (sailing) in qualifying for Paris 2024. – Bernama, October 25, 2023.
