CHIEF Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali today launched the Public Service Palestinian Humanitarian Fund to demonstrate civil servants’ solidarity and humanitarian spirit around Palestinians’ struggle.

Zuki urged all secretaries- and directors-general to collect donations from staff of their ministries, departments and agencies within two weeks from today.

“Every contribution, regardless of size, would mean a lot to our brothers and sisters (in Palestine),” he said on his Instagram account.

The government previously established the Humanitarian Trust Fund for the People of Palestine (AAKRP) to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians affected by the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The AAKRP was established under subsection 9(1) of the Financial Procedure Act 1957 in 2002 under the supervision of the Foreign Ministry, with the mandate to collect, coordinate and distribute humanitarian contributions from Malaysians to Palestinians.

The recent clashes in Gaza have resulted in the loss of thousands of lives since October 7. – Bernama, October 24, 2023.
