THE Education Ministry (MOE) said it was committed to addressing issues related to sexual offences against children, particularly those involving school students.
Its minister Fadhlina Sidek said the MOE would give its full commitment to stricter enforcement of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
“It is important to reiterate we have launched guidelines on the management of sexual harassment cases at schools.
“They are not just guidelines; they demonstrate our seriousness in addressing these issues,” she told reporters after officiating the Riang Ria Nutri Healthy Meals Programme in Alor Setar today.
She was responding to a statement by Law and Institutional Reform Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Azalina Othman yesterday that stricter enforcement would be implemented to curb sexual abuse against children, including charging those close to the victims who fail to report the offences. – Bernama, October 24, 2023.
