Dewan Rakyat to discuss guidelines for rally speeches

THE Dewan Rakyat will today discuss guidelines for speeches at rallies, as well as commercialisation and innovation (C&I) strategies in public service delivery.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang-PN) will ask the home minister to state whether the government has issued any guidelines on what can and cannot be said in a peaceful demonstration.

R. Yuneswaran (Segamat-PH), meanwhile, will ask the science, technology and innovation minister on C&I strategies that will support Malaysia to be in the top 30 countries in the Global Innovation Index by 2025.

Muhammad Islahuddin Abas (Mersing-PN) will ask the youth and sports minister whether the high-quality Zeon Zoysia grass will be used in other arenas apart from the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Meanwhile, during the question and answer session, Jamaludin Yahya (Pasir Salak-PN) will ask the prime minister to clarify if the special financial assistance provided to send pilgrims from the B40, M40 and T20 groups to perform the haj this year would be continued next year.

Rodziah Ismail (Ampang-PH) will ask the communications and digital minister if there was a policy to permanently delete handphone numbers that are being currently recycled, to ensure the safety and concern of postpaid and prepaid customers.

The debate on the Budget 2024 will resume afterwards, following its tabling by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on October 13.

The Supply Bill 2024 will be debated at the policy level for eight days before the ministers begin winding up from October 30 onwards.

Lawmakers will take part in the debate at the committee level for 12 days from November 6.

The Dewan Rakyat is sitting for 32 days from October 9 to November 30. – Bernama, October 24, 2023.
