PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called on Malaysians to take part in a rally to support Palestinians tomorrow night.

The “Malaysia Stands With Palestine” rally will be held at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil at 7pm.

“Calling on all Malaysians to come down to Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil tomorrow night as a sign of our solidarity with the Palestinian people!” Anwar posted on X, along with the poster of the event.

Anwar has been vocal in the global arena in showing his government’s support for Palestinians and in calling out at Israel to stop its missile attacks on Gaza.

Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional media director Lokman Noor Adam said in a social media post that the gathering will feature speeches from the prime minister and other political and civil society leaders.

He also urged participants to wear white clothes.

The rally is in solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

On Sunday, civil society groups Viva Palestina Malaysia and Humanitarian Care Malaysia held the “Freedom for Palestine” rally at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur.

Several hundreds of people participated in that rally, although the organisers faced criticism on social media for wanting to control the participants in what they can chant or what flags and banners they can carry.

On Friday, another demonstration was held near Masjid Tabung Haji on Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur, to condemn the deadly attack on al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza.

The previous Friday, there was another peaceful demonstration in support of Palestinians at the National Mosque. – October 23, 2023.
