HOME Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has refuted Muhyiddin Yassin’s claims that the inspector-general of police (IGP) had issued a statement preventing public discourse on 3R (race, religion, royalty) issues.

Muhyiddin had alleged that IGP Razarudin Husain had issued a statement prohibiting anyone from touching on 3R issues.

He added that he had been called five times by the police regarding the matter.

Saifuddin responded to the Pagoh MP by explaining that the former prime minister was only called to give statements regarding his remarks, where there had been reports lodged.

He cited Muhyiddin’s speech at a Perikatan Nasional (PN) event last year as reference.

“Remarks like ‘Voting for Pakatan Harapan (PH) is dangerous because they sponsor Jewish groups and this causes Christianisation in Malaysia. That is not allowed.

“On November 17, 2022, a report was lodged pertaining to Pagoh’s (Muhyiddin’s parliamentary seat) speech at a PN Best event on November 16 at Padang Bukit Muar, Parti Jawa,” he said.

“The police will only conduct an investigation if there is a report made, believing the remarks made are seditious.

“There is nothing insulting about Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) being called to the police station to leave a statement or two,” he added.

Saifuddin also cited another example where PAS lawmaker Abdul Hadi Awang on July 30, 2022 had said during PH’s first 22 months in power, it had attempted to take apart the Federal Constitution to get rid of Islam and to challenge the special position of Malays in the country.

“Was there any cabinet paper or decision made by the PH Supreme Council on taking apart the Federal Constitution and getting rid of Islam? Let’s recall.

“None. But this was said and that’s why reports were lodged,” he said.

He added that a total of 104 investigation papers had been opened in relation to 3R issues, involving government as well as opposition members. – October 23, 2023.
