THE Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) pact was proved successful when it chalked up a landslide victory in the August Negri Sembilan polls, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said.

He said the success could easily be replicated in other states.

“In the state elections, held on August 12, we once again succeeded in forming the state government,” Loke said at DAP’s Negri Sembilan annual convention.

“Of course, the success was due to the cooperation between PH and BN. It showed that the federal pact had extended all the way to Negri Sembilan.

“In fact, the partnership between BN and PH can be said to be the most successful in Negri Sembilan in terms of results, where BN and PH won 31 of the 36 seats. 

“This is an achievement that we can be proud of. This model of cooperation is an example to other states across the country.”

Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu held elections in August.

The unity coalition of PH and BN kept Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang while Perikatan Nasional held on to Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu. 

PH and BN saw the best results in Negri Sembilan, where combined they had a two-thirds majority. PH secured 17 seats while BN won 14. 

Following the win, Amirudin Harun was appointed to lead the state as the menteri besar for a second term. 

“This (his appointment) is a gesture of appreciation and (reward) for his contributions,” Loke said.
