TWO soldiers were among three individuals charged at the Rembau magistrates’ court today with drug possession.

The soldiers, Mohd Azizan Mohd Yusof, 28, and Mohd Fanddi Kusnin, 35, as well as Chean Boon Kok, 28, who is a labourer, claimed trial to the charge before magistrate Kartini Kasran.

The three of them were jointly charged with possessing 6.2g of methamphetamine in the living room of a house in Gemas at about 3.30am last October 12.

They were charged under section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a maximum five years’ jail and whipping.

The court allowed them bail of RM5,000 each with one surety and set November 30 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Amirul Noor Hashimi prosecuted, while the accused were represented by lawyer Roslaili Alias from the National Legal Aid Foundation. – Bernama, October 17, 2023.
