PAKATAN Harapan today postponed a decision to next week on who will lead the opposition coalition in the 14th general election (GE14).

After a three-hour meeting at the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) office in Petaling Jaya, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said PH will submit its presidential council line-up to Registrar of Socieities (RoS) next week.

“Pakatan Harapan will announce its main leadership by next week and it will be sent to RoS for registration,” Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail told reporters after the coalition’s presidential council meeting.

The meeting involved lengthy discussions on the coalition’s future direction and organisational structure.

“Today’s meeting has made some progress, where several important decisions have been agreed collectively.”

On the opposition’s choice of prime minister, leaders who attended the press conference said the matter however would not be decided next week.

“We have not come to that,” the coalition’s secretariat chief Saifuddin Abdullah said.

The Malaysian Insight previously reported that disputes over the coalition’s line-up had stalled PH’s registration as a formal coalition.

The presidential council line-up could not be finalised in the previous meeting on May 31 as some were against Dr Wan Azizah being named the coalition chairman.  – June 9, 2017.
