Dewan Rakyat debates Budget 2024 today

THE Dewan Rakyat would today debate Budget 2024, which was tabled by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Friday.

It would be debated at the committee level for eight days before the four-day answer session by ministers from October 30.

Anwar, when tabling Budget 2024, themed “Empowering the People”, said the government allocated RM393.8 billion for the plan, or 19.9% of the gross domestic product.

Of the total, Anwar said RM303.8 billion and RM90 billion were for operating and development expenditure, respectively, while another RM2 billion would be set aside for contingency spending.

Today’s sitting would also discuss the need for legislation against workplace discrimination.

The Order Paper on the parliament’s website showed the issue would be raised by William Leong Jee Keen (Selayang-PH) during the question-and-answer session to the human resources minister.

Muslimin Yahaya (Sungai Besar-PN) would then ask the higher education minister about the number of Technical and Vocational Education and Training graduates from 2018 to 2023, as well as how many have obtained jobs.

Also on the list was a question from Jalaluddin Alias ​​(Jelebu-BN) to the investment, trade and industry minister about the expected amount of foreign investment next year and how the ministry distributes incoming investment to all states and not just the Klang Valley.
