JOHOR ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has reminded civil servants in the state to live within their means and avoid getting involved in corruption.

He said that any public servant who has a lavish lifestyle because of corruption will not escape investigation.

“You (civil servants) are being observed. Obviously, any civil servants who flaunt a lifestyle that is beyond reasonable explanations will raise questions,” the Johor ruler said in a Facebook post.

He added that those in the public service should declare their assets annually as a way of curbing the ownership of “extraordinary properties”.

“The government should also look into the salaries of certain civil servants that are too low, as this could lead to a stressful life, especially for those living in cities,” he said.

The sultan added that all civil servants in Johor should always uphold integrity in order to increase the public’s trust in them. – October 15, 2023.
