POLICE will act against Pahang royal award and medals recipients who display the emblems of the prizes on their vehicles, following a decree from the Agong.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said it is illegal to misuse the royal emblems.

“Action can be taken (against the culprits) under section 3(1)(D) of the Pahang Emblems, Titles or Awards (Prevention of Improper Use) Enactment 2017,” Razarudin said in a statement.

In August, Pahang police chief Yahaya Othman issued a reminder that the Pahang’s royal emblems and insignias are not to be displayed on vehicle without permission.

He said the offence was punishable by a fine of up to RM500,000, a jail term of not more than five years, or both.

Yesterday, Ahmad Khirrizal Ab Rahma, comptroller of the Royal Household of the Sultan of Pahang, said the reminder was in line with a decree from Sultan Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who is the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“Recipients of awards and medals found to have violated or committed an offence under the enactment will have their awards and medals revoked.

“Those found using fake titles will also be charged according to the same provision,” he said in a statement.

Khirrizal said the police and Road Transport Department have been instructed to enforce the act. – October 15, 2023.
