Sabah loses 6,000 passengers weekly over MYAirline suspension

THE suspension of MYAirline Sdn Bhd yesterday saw Sabah lose about 6,000 passengers per week, state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Christina Liew said.

She said the number of domestic flights to Sabah was also impacted after the airline ceased operations.

The Sabah Tourism Board said domestic arrivals were important to the state as they account for about 70% to 80% of travellers to Sabah.

“Connectivity is one of the important factors that we must have. We are also watching and monitoring this issue very closely. We hope that they will resolve the issue very soon,” she said at a press conference in conjunction with the Tanjung Aru Beach Festival 2023 today.

Yesterday, MYAirline suspended its operations due to significant financial pressure, impacting the daily flight between Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur. – Bernama, October 13, 2023.
