The sudden cessation of MYAirline today left hundreds of ticket holders stranded.

Batik Air said it assist affected MYAirline passengers “during this time of need”.

The airline is offering MYAirline ticket holders a one-way trip to Penang at the special rate of RM129, Langkawi (RM159), Kuching (RM199), Kota Kinabalu (RM299) and Don Muang-Bangkok (RM299).

The offers are valid until November 30.

“With the challenges passengers are currently facing, our aim is to assist passengers so that they can reach their destinations with ease.

We are here to support the affected passengers during this time,” Batik Air group strategic director Chandran Rama Muthy said in a statement today.

AirAsia also announced a special deal, of 50% discount on base fares, for MYAirline passengers.

The offer is applicable until November 30 to all MYAirline passengers with confirmed flight bookings to and from Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, Tawau, Kota Baru, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Kinabaku-Tawau, and Don Muang-Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi-Bangkok.

To redeem this offer, affected passengers can present their confirmed MYAirline flight bookings at AirAsia Sales Counters at KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur or at the airports of the said destinations.

The no-frills airlines also offered to hire MYAirline staff who are qualified.

“We encourage affected MYAirline staff to reach out to us and explore the possibilities of joining our Allstars family,” said AirAsia Aviation Group Limited Group CEO Bo Lingam.

Malaysia Airlines, meanwhile said it would accept MYArline ticket holders on its flights between Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Langkawi and Bangkok. It said it would work with the troubled airline on the reallocation of its passengers.

Earlier today the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) ordered MYAirline to refund its customers for the tickets they will not be able to use.

Customers can reach the airline for help at [email protected].

In an early morning statement, MYAirline Sdn Bhd said effective today, it was suspending operations until further notice as its financial pressures mounted.

The low-cost airline said it had come to this “extremely painful decision” because of financial pressures that made it necessary to suspend operations pending shareholder restructuring and recapitalisation. – October 12, 2023.
