THE Penang Development Corporation (PDC) board of directors would address questions about the sale of Batu Kawan Industrial Estate 2 (BKIP2) land next week, said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Chow, who is also PDC chairman, said the corporation explained to the state executive council details about a project it had undertaken with Umech Construction Sdn Bhd (Umech).
“The state executive council has noted PDC’s explanations on the project and will leave it to the PDC board members to take further steps when they meet next week,” he told a press conference today.
Chow said the PDC and the state government aimed to ensure the availability of industrial land in the state to meet investor demands to develop new industrial areas.
He said a delay in the BKIP2 project would present significant financial impacts on the state government.
Recently, the PDC selected Umech as its partner to develop a 559ha site in Byram near the Pulau Burung landfill in the BKIP2. – Bernama, October 11, 2023.
