AFTER winning the Pelangai by-election today, Amizar Abu Adam has vowed to perform his duties as best as possible and continue the legacy of the late Johari Harun.

Amizar, 53, from Barisan Nasional (BN), expressed gratitude over the victory after losing the Ketari seat in the general election last year.

He thanked voters for trusting him to be their representative.

“I thank the voters in the Pelangai constituency who have chosen BN to continue serving here,” he said when met at the vote-tallying centre at Dewan Orang Ramai Felda Kemasul tonight.

The Bentong Umno committee member won by 2,949 votes after garnering 7,324 ballots, defeating Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Kasim Samat (4,375 votes) and Independent candidate Haslihelmy D.M. Zulhasni (47 votes).

Today’s by-election was held after the unexpected death of Johari – who was also Pahang Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman – in a plane crash in Shah Alam, Selangor, on August 17. – Bernama, October 7, 2023.
