SEVEN areas in the country recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as at 5pm today.

Based on the API Management System (Apims) operated by the Environment Department, three areas in Malacca had poor air quality – 154 in Bukit Rambai, 151 in Bandaraya Melaka, and 105 in Alor Gajah.

Other localities with unhealthy API readings were Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan (134), Tangkak (113) and Batu Pahat (103) in Johor, and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur (105).

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100 is moderate; 101 to 200 is unhealthy; 201 to 300 is very unhealthy; and above 300 is hazardous.

Apims releases data every hour, based on readings at 68 air quality monitoring stations across the country. – Bernama, October 5, 2023.
