THE Kelantan government said it was preparing a working paper to resolve water supply disruptions that have long plagued the state.
State Public Works, Infrastructure, Water and Rural Development Committee chairman Izani Husin said the paper would encompass a comprehensive pipe replacement effort.
“The working paper will be studied by Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) to ensure the problems are settled quickly. It would be submitted to the federal government via Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd,” he said.
He said there was about 4,000km of leaky piping in Kelantan.
He told reporters this after the opening of the Meranti Baharu Mini Water Treatment Plant in Pasir Mas today by Kelantan Menteri Besar Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.
Izani said the state government ordered AKSB to respond quickly to water service problems.
“Towards this objective, the state government is grateful to the federal government for the support and extension of assistance to solve the problem plaguing the people,” he said. – Bernama, October 4, 2023.
