Company owner admits making Penjana false claim


A COMPANY owner pleaded guilty today in the Sessions Court in Alor Star to a charge of making a RM44,600 false claim under Socso’s Penjana Kerjaya 2.0 programme in 2021.

Muhammad Asyraf Omar, 31, the proprietor of Asyraf Omar Legacy, made the plea after the charge was read out to him before judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah.

The judge fixed November 7 for sentencing.

Asyraf was allowed bail at RM15,000 with one surety.

He pled guilty to using forged documents to claim for incentives from Socso. The offence was committed at the Kedah Socso office on May 16, 2021.

The charge was framed under section 471 of the Penal Code. The offence is punishable by a jail sentence of two years or a fine or both.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor Rehab Abdul Shukur acted for the prosecution while the accused was represented by lawyer Muhaimin Hashim. – Bernama, October 3, 2023.
