SOME parties want to break up the unity government because they are jealous of the coalition’s strength, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday.

Anwar said this was because Pakatan Harapan, which he heads, had a solid pact with Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Gabungan Parti Sarawak.

“Why do they want to break us up? It’s because they are jealous. How long has it been since we’ve had such a strong coalition?

“But the important thing is, this unity government is stable. For what? To raise the economy. To bring in foreign investment. To protect the welfare of the people. Even investors have confidence in the unity government, so don’t destroy or damage it,” he said.

He was speaking at Dataran Simpang Pelangai on the Pelangai state by-election campaign trail in Bentong.

BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the BN candidate for Pelangai Amizar Abu Adam were present at the event.

Anwar said the unity government has not only succeeded in restoring political stability but produced a clear policy for the development of the country.

He said that in nine months of government, the coalition has introduced the Madani economic policy, the National Energy Transition Roadmap, the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, and a mid-term review of the 12th Malaysia Plan.

“This year’s investments are the highest in our history and the year has not even ended,” he said.

Anwar was confident BN would be able to defend the Pelangai state seat.

“Looking at the large turnout today, I am confident that BN can win easily.

“The Pahang government has taken good care of the state…  a vote for the BN candidate is a vote of confidence in Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy’s leadership.”
