POLICE yesterday remanded a retired soldier who is believed to have stabbed his wife to death at their home in Jalan Padang Nyu, Arau.
Kangar Court Magistrate Siti Nor Hasliza Md Ali issued the remand order for seven days.
The 38-year-old suspect, clad in lockup attire and handcuffed, arrived in a police vehicle at the courthouse at 8.30am today.
Yesterday, the media reported that a man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing his wife to death about 6am.
Arau district police chief Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi said the woman’s body was lying in a pool of blood and covered with a thick blanket in the bathroom. The suspect has surrendered himself at the Perlis Police Contingent Headquarters about 10 am.
The 31-year-old woman was a nurse. She was believed to have been stabbed in the chest with a knife.
The couple are believed to have fought before she was killed.The case is filed under section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
