THE number of flood evacuees in Kedah dropped to 1,383 people as of 8am today, compared with 1,550 at 8pm yesterday.

Kedah Civil Defence Force disaster management secretariat chief Muhammad Suhaimi Mohd Zain said the evacuees were housed in 12 centres in Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena and Baling.

Kota Setar had the highest number of evacuees with 671, followed by Baling with 458. Pokok Sena has 201 evacuees and Kubang Pasu, 53.

Suhaimi said that as floodwaters receded in several areas, some residents were allowed to return home.

The Irrigation and Drainage Department’s Info Banjir portal said that Sungai Anak Bukit in Taman Aman, Alor Star, had reached the danger level at 2.93m. – Bernama, September 30, 2023.
