FIVE policemen and a civilian have been arrested for allegedly abducting a man, who was later taken to a police station and assaulted.
In a statement, Cheras district police chief ACP Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the arrests were made on September 27 at district police headquarters.
He said they received a police report on September 26 at 5.48pm from a man who claimed that he was abducted by a group of men from a restaurant in Desa Petaling.
Zam Halim said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping, Section 342 for wrongful confinement, and Section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt.
“Following information received, a team comprising officers and personnel from the Cheras Criminal Investigation Department arrested six Malaysian men aged between 27 and 42.
“A thorough investigation is currently underway. The complete investigation paper will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action,” he said in the statement today.
Zam Halim advised the public not to speculate about the case which could create confusion, disruption and disturb public peace.
