THE Department of Environment said more states have recorded “unhealthy” air quality as at 7pm today.
The Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in these areas of Selangor showed unhealthy levels: Cheras (155), Kuala Selangor (153), Shah Alam (147), Petaling Jaya (153), Batu Muda (153), Putrajaya (117), and Johan Setia (151).
In Seberang Jaya, Penang the API has gone up to 110. In Perak, Taiping is recording a figure of 131, Tasek Ipoh (107), and Tanjung Malim (109), and Nilai in Negri Sembilan shows an API of 101.
An API reading of 0 to 50 is considered “good”, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy), and 300 and above (hazardous).
The air quality in the rest of the country is reported to be “moderate”. – September 29, 2023.
