JOHOR Health and Unity Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon has been elected MCA youth chief.

Party secretary-general Chong Sin Woon announced the news last night.

Ling, who is the Yong Peng assemblyman, secured the post after garnering 130 votes, defeating his rivals Danial Wa Wai How (58 votes) and Bernard Chan Kee Siang (no votes) in party polls yesterday.

He replaced Nicole Wong, who is eyeing the vice-presidency.

Wong You Fong was elected women’s head after securing 281 votes, defeating her challenger Ooi Siew Kim who received 98 votes.

Polls for the party’s president, vice-president and central committee would be held today, with vote counting set for 7pm.

Mah Hang Soon meanwhile retained his deputy president position unopposed.

The party’s polls were held in line with article 167 of the MCA Constitution, which stated the elections must be held within six months of the general election. – Bernama, September 24, 2023.
