THE Sarawak government will build a laboratory in every district to strengthen the education of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among youth.
Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg said the decision to build the facility was taken due to the unsatisfactory condition of the state’s school labs, adding that they would be shared by the schools within each district.
“I find that schools in Sarawak do not have fully equipped labs, except for Science schools. Labs are essential for the learning of biology, chemistry, and physics.
“Fully equipped labs are important because learning through just books is different from practical methods,” he said during the Kuching zone Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu special party convention today.
Abang Johari said in addition to strengthening STEM education in schools, the state government had also established the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak to produce more Sarawak residents skilled in STEM. – Bernama, September 23, 2023.
