THERE has been no discussion on forming a unity government in Johor, said state DAP vice-chairman Teo Nie Ching.

She said Pakatan Harapan (PH) still served as a check and balance for the Johor administration.

Teo, who was speaking to reporters after distributing tents to Pasar Pagi Merbau traders in Bandar Putra today, was responding to a question about the proposal to form a state-level unity government.

Barisan Nasional (BN) won 40 out of the 56 assembly seats in the March Johor elections last year, while PH and Perikatan Nasional garnered 11 and three seats, respectively.

Teo, who is also DAP national publicity secretary, proposed to set up a unity government secretariat in Johor as PH and BN’s cooperation had improved.

She said the establishment of such a committee at the state and parliamentary levels would facilitate the dissemination of information to the people, and bring about closer cooperation between the parties in the unity government. – Bernama, September 23, 2023.
