DEVELOPMENT and youth welfare were among the focuses of the Pelangai by-election candidates – Barisan Nasional’s Amizar Abu Adam, Perikatan Nasional’s Kasim Samat, and Independent candidate Haslihelmy D.M. Zulhasni.
Amizar, 50, said apart from continuing with the development agenda of the late incumbent Johari Harun, youth matters were on his manifesto.
“I want to focus on the younger generation, because many development programmes, activities and opportunities we can provide are to empower youth in the constituency,” he told reporters after the nomination of candidates at Felda Kemasul community hall in Bentong today.
Kasim, 63, said he wanted to drive development in Pelangai, especially for roads.
He said he was confident of garnering youth support as he had experience teaching secondary school and vocational college.
As for Haslihelmy, 36, he wanted to champion youth interests, especially the second- and third-generation Felda settlers, in Pelangai.
“Even though I do not have a large machinery, I will prove we can mobilise efforts for victory,” said Haslihelmy, who is using the car symbol.
Polling is on October 7 while early voting is on October 3.
There are 16,456 eligible voters in the constituency, including 36 cops and three postal voters.
