THE price of RON97 will increase by 10 sen to RM3.47 per litre, said the Finance Ministry.

In a statement, it said the price of RON95 and diesel remained at RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre, respectively.

“To protect consumers from global oil price hikes, the government maintains the ceiling price of RON95 at RM2.05 per litre and diesel at RM2.15 per litre, even though the market prices (derived from the automatic pricing mechanism) for RON95 and diesel have increased beyond the ceiling price,” it said.

The last time the price of RON97 was revised was June 1, when it rose by 2 sen to RM3.37.

Unlike RON95 and diesel, RON97 is not subsidised and its retail price is set by market forces. – September 20, 2023.
