THE 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) mid-term review, which outlines policies to achieve Madani Economy objectives, was tabled at the special Dewan Negara sitting today.
Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli tabled the review, in which the government has raised the expenditure ceiling by RM15 billion, for a four-day debate among senators.
In his speech, Rafizi said the review prioritises initiatives for socio-economic development and governance with three main focuses – sustainability, prosperity, and moving Malaysia towards a high-income status.
“I call on all Malaysians to work together to ensure sustainable growth of the economy so the distribution of wealth is transparent and just,” he said.
The review, with a RM415 billion allocation, was passed with a majority voice vote in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
The 12MP was tabled on September 27, 2021, with an initial allocation of RM400 billion.
The review was performed to assess achievements in the first two years of the 12MP and its direction for 2023-2025.
Earlier, Dewan Negara president Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the 12MP review debate would take place today and tomorrow, with replies from ministries slated for September 25 and 26. – Bernama, September 20, 2023.
