58 areas record moderate air quality

A TOTAL of 58 Environment Department (DOE) air quality monitoring stations recorded moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 3pm today.

Based on the API displayed on the DOE portal, Cheras, in Kuala Lumpur, recorded the highest API reading at 96, while Shah Alam, in Selangor, and Kuching, in Sarawak, recorded readings of 91 and 90 respectively.

An API of zero to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.

The API data is released every hour based on readings recorded at 68 air quality monitoring stations across the country. – Bernama, September 17, 2023.
