MUDA’S sole representative in the Johor state assembly, Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, is resisting calls from Pakatan Harapan (PH) to vacate the seat and return it to Amanah following Muda’s exit from the unity government.
Amira, who is Muda deputy president and Puteri Wangsa assemblyman, said the state seat and Muar parliamentary seat the party won in the November general election belonged to the people and not to any party.
She said it did not even belong to Muda.
Johor PH chairman Aminolhuda Hassan on Tuesday suggested Amira vacate her seat or join Amanah.
Aminolhuda said the seat had been allocated by PH to Amanah before the party gifted it to Muda to contest in the 2022 polls.
Last week, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman pulled the party’s support for the unity government over the conditional discharge of Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi from his graft charges.
Amira has now been placed in the opposition bloc in the state assembly. – September 14, 2023.
