Anwar to join 2 special sessions at Asia Summit

PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim would participate in two special sessions of the Milken Institute Annual Asia Summit in Singapore today, said the Foreign Ministry.

Wisma Putra in a statement said the two sessions were “A Conversation with the Prime Minister of Malaysia” and “Malaysia’s Investment Outlook: A Conversation between the Prime Minister and Global Investors”.

Anwar, who is also finance minister, was accompanied by his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on his two-day working visit to Singapore.

His delegation included Foreign Minister Zambry Abd Kadir and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

Anwar was also scheduled to have tea with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and both leaders were expected to exchange views on domestic and international developments.

Last year, Singapore was Malaysia’s second largest global trading partner with bilateral trade amounting to RM390.4 billion, accounting for 12.9% of Malaysia’s total trade.

It represented a 29.4% increase from RM301.7 billion in the corresponding 2021 period. – Bernama, September 13, 2023.
