Jamaluddin Jarjis’ widow takes matrimonial property claim to court

A MATRIMONIAL property claim of more than RM2 billion filed by Jamaluddin Jarjis’ widow, Kalsom Ismail, against her four children and mother-in-law will go to trial after parties in the case failed to resolve the matter amicably at the Kuala Lumpur Shariah High Court today.

Kalsom named her four children – Ikwan Hafiz, Nur Anis, Nurul Alyaa and Noor Adilla – and mother-in-law, Aminah Abdullah, as the first to the fifth defendants.

Lawyer Nur Hidayah A. Bakar, representing Aminah, said all parties failed to reach an agreement to resolve the case.

“The court decided the case will continue with the trial and set October 9 for case management to set the trial date,” she told reporters after today’s closed-door proceedings before judge Abdul Shukor Abd Hamid.

Kalsom was represented by lawyer Sulaiman Abdullah.

Kalsom filed a claim for matrimonial property, which includes 20 sites in Malaysia and Mecca and several companies in October 2018, naming her four children and mother-in-law as defendants.

Jamaluddin, who was also ambassador to the United States, was killed on April 4, 2015, after the helicopter he was travelling in from Pekan to Kuala Lumpur crashed at Kampung Sungai Pening, Selangor, at 4.55pm.

Also killed were his pilot Clifford William Fournier, former prime minister Najib Razak’s private secretary Azlin Alias, businessman Tan Huat Seang, Jamaluddin’s personal aide Razakan Seran and a woman known as Aidana Baizieva. – Bernama, September 11, 2023.
