A TOTAL of 433 people from 85 households sought shelter at a flood relief centre at the Kampong Chinggong Community Hall in Behrang, Tanjung Malim, as of 10pm yesterday.

A spokesman for the Muallim Civil Defence Force said the evacuees were residents of Kampung Chinggong.

The centre was opened at 7.30pm.

“Two hours of continuous rain caused Sungai Behrang to overflow into the nearby housing estate.

“Although the water level has fully receded, the village headman asked that the centre remain open because the houses are flooded,” the spokesman said in a statement last night. – Bernama, September 9, 2023.
