THE former Negri Sembilan royal consort Tunku Ampuan Najihah Almarhum Tunku Besar Burhanuddin died at Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur at 6.53am today.

She was 100.

Tunku Ampuan Najihah was the country’s Raja Permaisuri Agong from 1994 to 1999.

State secretary Mohd Zafir Ibrahim in a statement said her remains will lie in state at Istana Besar Seri Menanti before they are laid to rest at the Seri Menanti Royal Mausoleum after Asar prayers today.

Zafir added that the state will observe a one-day mourning period today.

“After this announcement, the state flag shall be flown at half-mast state-wide throughout the mourning period,” he said. 

All mosques and surau in the state are encouraged to hold tahlil prayers for Tunku Ampuan Najihah during the mourning period, he added. – Bernama, September 8, 2023.
