PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang had his statement recorded at 11.30am today over comments he made about the authority of the Pardons Board, Bukit Aman revealed.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, however, said Hadi only answered five out of 24 questions posed by investigators when they met at the PAS building in Jalan Raja Laut.

“He said he will answer the rest of the questions in court,” Ayob added.

Ayob said Hadi was being probed under the Sedition Act.

The Marang MP is alleged to have disputed the authority of the Pardons Board in a talk he gave in Bakri, Muar on August 26.

On another matter, Ayob said the police were also probing Muhyiddin Yassin over a “fatwa” he made towards voting for the Pakatan Harapan candidate in the Pulai by-election.

Ayob said only the Majlis Fatwa Kebangsaan (National Fatwa Council) can issue a fatwa.

“Only a mufti or the state fatwa body can issue a decree. Not any ordinary individual,” said Ayob. – September 4, 2023.
