SELANGOR Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has slammed Perikatan Nasional (PN) for failing to engage in any constructive policy discourse with the government for the sake of the nation.

Amirudin, who is also PKR vice-president, said instead the federal opposition bloc has decided to exploit racial and religious sentiments as a political weapon.

This, he said, endangered the nation’s harmony.

“PN was offered collaboration with the unity government but declined. While they can remain the voice of opposition, it’s not their role to sow extremism and division in the country,” Amirudin was quoted as telling news portal Scoop today.

He also said PN was increasingly resorting to aggressive tactics as a means to grab power.

“This attitude can erode the decades-long harmony of the country. We must not tolerate such sentiments, especially as we seek to rebuild the nation together with the opposition.”

He was in Johor Baru last night, attending a political event in the run up to the Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections on September 9. – September 3, 2023.
